Are you using the current firmware? I8m800-m2 would detect it but would still hang after saying "detecting IDE devices". Ramhound Should that really matter? Could a bad PSU also cause this, it is a Watt?

I have verified the drive is fine using another computer I downloaded the PDF manual to k8800-m2 if there is a jumper I have to set on the board to enable the SATA ports or something, but I wasn't able to find anything.

Any ideas as to why the BIOS doesn't see it?

The controller might only support specific sizes below a specific size. I also ran across this unsolved thread fromwhere the OP has the same issue.
